WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Positive signs for Rossi in Portuguese GP, misfortune for Hayden"

The Portuguese Grand Prix saw the Ducati Team improving with Valentino Rossi and unfortunate with Nicky Hayden. After two days of working on his GP12’s settings, the Italian lapped at a pace that was both relatively fast and very consistent, eventually finishing in seventh place, which is his best result of the season so far.
Nicky Hayden, on the other hand, had to just try make it to the finish due to an electrical problem with his bike’s ECU, which was subject to interference from a radio signal near the track. As a result, all of the electronic calibrations were out of phase around the circuit, making riding extremely challenging. The American nonetheless rode with great determination to an eleventh-place finish.
Tomorrow the Ducati Team will remain in Portugal for a one-day test, with hopes that the rain forecasts turn out to be wrong so that development can continue on the GP12.

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 7th
“It went a bit better this time, in the sense that we started from a better base on Friday and we managed to prepare for today over the course of the weekend. I was able to approach the race knowing what to expect from the bike, and I therefore managed to push harder and get a little closer to the limit. The first laps were decent. I moved up a couple of positions and then I maintained a consistent pace, doing times that we expected to do. We can say that we took advantage of our current potential, and now we’ll have to work to make another step forward. We must improve on corner exits and on acceleration because right now we’re not able to be as effective as the others due to the fact that we can’t get all of the power to the ground. We have a test tomorrow, and we’ll start working. Anyway, today I even managed to have some fun.”

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 11th
“Starting from the first lap, there was an electrical problem and the bike didn’t know where it was on the track. I tried my best to ride around the problem and not make mistakes. It’s really a shame to work hard all weekend but not be able to take advantage of it with a result in the race. The team did a great job overnight, and I felt so much better this morning in the warm-up. I almost matched my qualifying lap and was pretty consistent. Of course I’m not saying I was going to fight for the win, but it would have been nice to at least have a decent race. We’ll focus on tomorrow’s test now and look forward to the next race at Le Mans.”

Vittoriano Guareschi (Team Manager)
“We managed to work well this weekend, taking full advantage of our dry track time to improve the setup and confirm that we now have a good base setting. Today Vale rode the whole race at close to the same pace as his qualifying time, he made some nice passes, and he was able to push a bit closer to the limit. I think this is a good starting point. We’re really sorry for Nicky because during the race, a radio signal interfered with our ECU’s transponder, forcing him to ride with the electronic calibration out of phase. Riding in those conditions is truly difficult, and he did a great job to finish the race.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Ducati Team returns to the track for Portuguese GP"

The Ducati Team has transferred to Portugal for the third round of the MotoGP World Championship, which will take place on Sunday at Circuito Estoril, a track that, despite being notable for having the slowest average speed on the Grand Prix calendar, also includes some very fast sections like Turn 5, which is taken at approximately 200 Km/h (125 mph).
In twelve premier-class races at the circuit, Valentino Rossi has won five times and scored some additional podium finishes, while Nicky Hayden’s best finish there was a fourth place in 2007. The team will remain at the track on Monday for a post-race test.

VALENTINO ROSSI, Ducati Team“I like the Estoril track. It has some sections that are a bit tricky and the weather can be very unpredictable, but I like to race there. We had a decent race in Portugal last year with the Ducati, and we hope to do the same this Sunday. The plan is to start on Friday with the setting that we used in the race at Jerez, as I think it has some more potential for us to work toward. We’ll see if we can take a step forward and improve our result somewhat.”

NICKY HAYDEN, Ducati Team“There hasn’t been much time since Jerez, which is good, as I enjoy back-to-back races. I rode to Portugal in the motor home, and it was a really short, easy trip. I can’t say that I love or hate Estoril. It’s a tight track with a little bit of everything, and the wind can be challenging. My favourite part is the fast corner in the back, but the rest of it is pretty normal. I’m looking forward to Friday. We’ll see what the weather’s going to be like, as it’s pretty unpredictable here. What we don’t need is exactly what we had in Jerez: mostly wet sessions and then having to go into a dry race. It’s clear we need the whole weekend to try to sort some things out and put up a better fight on Sunday.”

VITTORIANO GUARESCHI, Team Manager“I wouldn’t be surprised if we find conditions in Portugal to be similar to those we left behind at Jerez, but although we went well in the rain there, we hope for a weekend with nice weather this time, which would allow us to take full advantage of all the available track time. The Estoril GP will be important for confirming that we’re on the right path in terms of the GP12’s setup, with both Vale and Nicky. Then on Monday we’ll have a day of post-race testing during which we can make some more checks as we continue our bike’s development.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Hayden, Rossi eight and ninth in Spanish Grand Prix"

The weekend’s last rain shower fell less than an hour before the Spanish Grand Prix, leaving time for the water to evaporate enough to have the race declared dry, so the MotoGP riders started on slick tyres. Nicky Hayden, who started from the first row, was involved in a back-and-forth battle for third place with Crutchlow and Pedrosa. The American then steadily lost ground as grip decreased, eventually finishing eighth. Valentino Rossi, who started from the fifth row, steadily improved his pace as he climbed to eighth place.
Both riders will continue working on the setup of the GP12, starting this Friday when they again take to the track for free practice at the Portuguese Grand Prix in Estoril, and also during the post-race test on Monday.

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 8th“It was fun for a couple of laps. We know our bike is great at generating heat in the tyres, and for the first few laps, I was able do what I wanted. Then about the time it looked like the other guys’ tyres came up to temperature, mine had already started losing grip, especially in the front. I was pushing wide in places and guys started coming past me. We knew it would be tough in the dry. My setup was okay, but to really try to go with those guys wasn’t possible. I was able to close back down on Bradl at the end and have a bit of a race the last couple of laps, but he beat me. Eighth place is certainly not what our goal is. The bike’s got a lot of potential, but at the moment, the gap to the rest is still too far. Hopefully we can get a dry weekend in Estoril and try to be closer to the front on Sunday.”

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 9th“The positive thing from today’s race is that I think it might help us to do a bit better in the coming events, starting next week in Portugal. Today we used a setup that’s new for us, and it gave some positive signs. First we tried some solutions to give me a feeling similar to what I’ve had in the past, but it doesn’t work. Today’s setting was very similar to what Nicky has used for a while, though not exactly the same. I must get used to riding the bike a bit differently than I’m used to, and today that caused me to lose some ground in the early laps because I was basically starting blind. I wasn’t going bad once I found my rhythm, in the sense that I was matching the times of those who were fighting for sixth place, and I was able to push until the end, doing a 1:41.0 on the penultimate lap. This helps me to be a little more optimistic as I look ahead to the next races because if I’m able to ride a bit better, it could be a place for us to start from. In fact, we’ll use this setting when we start on Friday. Naturally, we’ll have to keep working, be more effective in qualifying so that we can start further forward, and improve acceleration and a number of other things, which we’ve already discussed at Ducati as we try, together, to improve the GP12.”

Vittoriano Guareschi (Team Manager)“Today we wanted to see both Nicky and Vale finish the race closer to the front, but overall, there are several positive things to take from this weekend as we continue our work and our development path for the GP12. We received confirmation that we’re very fast in the wet, and in the dry, we had a good qualifying session with Nicky, who made the first row. Nicky was very competitive in the early laps of the race, and now we must also improve over race distance with him. Vale found qualifying difficult, but in the race, using a setting that he’d never tried, he felt okay and was steadily gaining confidence and going faster. These are signs that show us the direction to follow starting with the next round in a few days in Portugal.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Nicky Hayden on front row in Jerez, Valentino Rossi unable to replicate yesterday’s performance"

The qualifying session for the MotoGP round in Jerez de la Frontera featured unpredictable weather conditions, as had been the case in all of the free-practice sessions. Nicky Hayden posted the third-best time on a mainly dry track, earning a spot on the front row with Lorenzo and Pedrosa, while Valentino Rossi was unable to replicate Friday’s very strong wet performance and finished with the thirteenth-best time.
The qualifying session featured the driest track conditions of the event so far, although the situation was far from ideal, with cold asphalt and wet patches from the morning rain. Hayden found a setup with which he managed to ride the track quite well, while Rossi had a harder time and wasn’t able to be as effective.

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 3rd (1:40.563)“To be on the front row is really good for us. The track conditions were quite strange, different compared to what we’ve had the whole weekend. It certainly helped that we tested here in the dry not too long ago, as we had a relatively good base setup. We went out hard right from the gun, because we knew some spots of rain were coming. I moved up a couple times and thought, ‘Okay, let it rain now,’ but then I’d drop back down and think, ‘Oh, don’t start raining yet.’ It got better near the end, but it was still tough because there were a lot of wet patches on the track, which made it easy to make mistakes. In the end, we took advantage of the strange situation and made the front row, so I’m really happy for my team. Now we’ll try to make it happen when it counts tomorrow.”

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 13th (1:42.961)“Qualifying didn’t go well today. The conditions were quite difficult because it was cold and the asphalt was dry, but not completely. Anyway, it was like that for everyone, so that wasn’t the problem. Unfortunately, I’m still having a very hard time riding and entering corners, both on the brakes and off. I’m slow to achieve maximum lean angle and don’t carry the necessary corner speed, so when it’s time to accelerate, I’ve already lost too much ground. We’ve been trying to solve this situation for a while, but we haven’t managed it yet. We have to keep working on the setup because Nicky had a nice session today and really did a good job. Comparing the data, we’ve confirmed that we’re losing all our time on corner entry. Anyway, we went a bit better in the wet, so we’ll see what conditions we have for the race.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Valentino Rossi third in Spanish free practice, Nicky Hayden sixth"

The Ducati Team enjoyed a good start to the Spanish MotoGP weekend in Jerez de la Frontera, with Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden very fast from the beginning. Bad weather affected the day from the beginning, with morning conditions being neither completely wet nor completely dry. This made the first session useless for both Rossi and Hayden, who elected to stay in the garage.
The asphalt was wet enough in the second session to permit the use of rain tyres, and both Ducati Team riders were fast. The Italian was at the top of the time chart for some time before eventually finishing with the second-best time in FP2, behind Dani Pedrosa. His teammate finished the session a respectable fifth. In the combined times for the two sessions, Rossi and Hayden were third and sixth respectively, despite having sat out the morning.

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 3rd (1:51.440)“We go pretty well in the wet. We’re happy to be second this afternoon because it confirms that the GP12 has the same good feeling in the wet that last year’s bike did, and that’s important. I felt good immediately today. We worked on the setting a bit but because we had already started with a good feeling, I was able to immediately ride at the limit and do some good times. Now we have to wait to see what the weather does tomorrow, and especially on Sunday.”

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 6th (1:52.254)“It’s a shame about the weather. This morning it wasn’t really wet and wasn’t really dry. If we had unlimited rain tyres, I probably would have gone out and had a look, but with rain forecast for the whole weekend, I didn’t want to waste any. We did some laps in the afternoon and checked a couple things. It was hard to say if we made any improvements because the track dried out at the end and was almost ready for slicks. The bike felt decent in the wet, especially the geometry and turning, but it lacked some grip on the edge, which is where we’re we’ll focus tomorrow.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Ducati Team readies for Spanish Grand Prix"

The Ducati Team travels to Spain this week for one of the most popular events on the world championship calendar, the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez de la Frontera.
Last year’s rain-affected race saw Nicky Hayden climb the third step of the podium, while Valentino Rossi, following a fall at the beginning of the eighth lap, mounted a charge through the pack to finish in fifth place. The Italian is the most successful rider ever at the Andalusian circuit, with no fewer than eight career wins, including six in the premier class.

VALENTINO ROSSI, Ducati Team“I’ve always liked the Jerez track a lot, and we certainly must try to do better than in Qatar. By the end of the three-day test in March, we had found a decent setup for the GP12, so we have a base to start from for this track as we prepare the bike for the race. It will be very important to work well during the Friday and Saturday practice sessions, focusing particularly on maintaining a good direction and on taking advantage of what we currently have to work with.”

NICKY HAYDEN, Ducati Team“I really enjoy the Jerez GP. In some ways it’s like the first race all over again, because it’s a little bit different than Qatar. We’re back in Europe, with our trucks and all the crowds. It’s also a special track. It’s really tough, with very few straightaways, so you have to ‘connect the dots’ and do some hard braking. If you want to do a good lap time, it’s important to be fast in those last two right-handers. I’m looking forward to it. We tested there last month, but since then we have a race under our belt and a bit more data to consider. We know the general setup of the bike now. Last year the weather definitely mixed things up a bit, so we’ll see what it does this time.”

VITTORIANO GUARESCHI, Team Manager“We’re returning to Jerez a month after the winter test there, so we should find very similar conditions. The first race, in Qatar, was very difficult for Valentino, as we didn’t find a good setup that would let him feel comfortable on the bike. In Spain, by taking advantage of the work we did there in March, we’ll focus on helping him once again find a good feeling. Nicky is coming off of two days of testing at Mugello, where he had hoped to make up some of the time lost during winter testing, but bad weather prevented him from doing much. Still, he was able to get to know the bike better at the first round, and he’s confident in being able to find a good setup for this track as well.”

Ducati’s test at Mugello was affected by the weather, forcing Nicky Hayden and official test rider Franco Battaini to spend more time in the garage than they did on the track. The conditions alternated between sunny skies and heavy precipitation for all three days, but both riders nonetheless did their best to take advantage of the nicer moments by trying both dry and wet settings.

“We came here looking to make up time lost due to my missing the Valencia test and having limited time at the Malaysia and Jerez tests, but it was pretty much a wash,” Hayden said. “It’s a shame because Ducati gave me the opportunity to come and had a race-spec GP12 here, along with my whole team. Yesterday we made two exits with slicks and also did a bit of riding in the wet, but today the conditions were wet but also cold and windy, completely unmanageable. With two back-to-back races coming up, there wasn’t much to be gained by risking testing in the wet. I’ve learned during my career that you can’t control the weather, so there’s no need to complain. We’ll just look forward to the race at Jerez.”

“We had very unstable conditions at Mugello,” said Ducati Corse General Manager Filippo Preziosi. “We tried to optimize our work by doing some setup tests with Nicky, including some rain settings, given that he rode so little during the first two winter tests. With Franco, particularly on the relatively nice first day, we started doing some tests that will be useful for preparing updates for Vale and Nicky to try during the post-race test in Estoril. I really hope we get sunny weather in Portugal!”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Hayden at Mugello to make up testing time lost due to injury"

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, Nicky Hayden will join the Ducati Test Team during the final two days of a three-day test at Mugello, with the goal of making up for time lost during the winter testing season due to injuries incurred at the 2011 Valencia Grand Prix and in a December training incident.
This will give the American the opportunity to carry out setup tests that he wasn’t able to complete prior to the start of the 2012 season. He’ll join official test rider Franco Battaini, who is already on track today as he continues his development work on the GP12. As usual, these updates will be tried by Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden during future tests

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Il Ducati Team in Qatar ha continuato a lavorare sul set up per la gara"

The opening round of the 2012 MotoGP season continued this evening, with the second and third free practice sessions taking place at Qatar’s Losail International Circuit. Although the area was buffeted by fairly strong winds for much of the day, the surface grip improved compared to last night’s dusty conditions, forcing the riders and their teams to adapt their setups accordingly.
Both Nicky Hayden, seventh at the end, and Valentino Rossi improved their performances, with the Italian in particular working with the hard tyre, consistently lowering his times with the race setup. Only in the final exit did he mount a softer tyre, with which he posted the eighth-best time of the day.
Qualifying is scheduled for tomorrow evening, with the first race of the season to take place on Sunday night.

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 7th (1:56.402)
“As the track is cleaning up, we’re getting more grip, but in a way that’s hurting us since I’m also getting more chatter. When that happens, I can’t keep my lean angle, and I run wide, especially in the flat corners. We tried some different springs but haven’t found the right solution yet. Chatter is so strange and inconsistent sometimes, but we’ll have a look at the data and do our best to sort it out. My pace isn’t great, but although I’m not thrilled with how the day went, the bike is certainly doing well on top speed, which is going to be important in the race.”

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 8th (1:56.535)
“Today went pretty well, and I’d say that the last session was the best. The position is nothing fantastic, but on the positive side, I’m very consistent with the hard tyre. The front of the bike is giving more feedback, so I can push more, which is very important, and the bike is very fast at the end of the straight. The understeer is still there, but now I think we have a place from which to work. We hope to improve two or three small things with the setting for tomorrow, and we’ll try to qualify on the second row.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Hayden back home following successful surgery"

On Monday, February 5, Nicky Hayden underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on the right shoulder that he had injured in late December. During the procedure, which was carried out in Fremont, California, and which lasted approximately 40 minutes, Dr Arthur Ting discovered and repaired a tear in the labrum. Yesterday’s post-operation appointment confirmed that the surgery was successful, and the Ducati Team rider returned home to begin his recovery. If the convalescence proceeds as hoped, Hayden should be able to take part in the next winter test at Sepang, February 28-March 1.

“It’s a setback, but all things considered, I’m pretty happy with how things went,” Hayden said. “It’s good that it was possible to do everything by ’scope, and the pain’s not too bad. The problem should be fixed now, and I look forward to being able to help out the team as soon as possible.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Nicky Hayden to undergo left-shoulder surgery to speed recovery"

Following the first winter test at Sepang, where his participation was limited due to his left shoulder lacking the strength to ride well, Nicky Hayden traveled directly to Fremont, California, for a thorough examination at Doctor Arthur Ting’s clinic. There, tests revealed damage to cartilage in the American’s shoulder, as well as to muscles in his back. Tomorrow the Ducati Team rider will undergo an operation in order to have his condition evaluated more thoroughly, and to treat his injuries.

“Of course another operation before the season is never a good thing, Hayden said, “but I’m actually happy that I tried to ride at Malaysia, because it helped me to discover that the problem with the shoulder was bigger than we thought. After seeing the scans, it was clear why I couldn’t ride well. Setbacks are a part of life and a part of MotoGP, so we’ll deal with it and do everything possible to get back on the bike in good condition as soon as possible. Ducati and the team are putting maximum effort into this championship, and that helps me to keep my spirits high and to be confident heading into the season.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Ducati Team completes first winter test at Sepang"

The first winter MotoGP test finished today at Sepang International Circuit with a day that was affected by rather variable weather conditions, with intense heat in the middle of the day and a shower that cut short the planned work schedule at 5:25 p.m. Nicky Hayden had already finished riding around noon after having tried riding with heavy taping on his painful left shoulder. Still lacking the necessary strength to push hard, he and the team agreed it was best to finish early. As for Valentino Rossi, he continued until the rain arrived, finishing the session with the fifth-best time.

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 5th, 2:00.824 (42 laps)
“We on the team are all happy with how this test has gone, especially today. With a 2:00.8, we’re starting to get to a decent time. The two Hondas and the two Yamahas are still ahead of us, but we consider this test to be a starting point. The most positive things we’ve achieved are that the front now lets me ride a little more as I’m able, that the bike reacts well to changes and that we have very clear ideas on what’s still missing. In particular, if we manage to improve the bike’s behaviour on acceleration, we’ll be able to take a consistent step forward. I know that the work has never stopped at Ducati, and now with the information we’ve gathered, they’ll keep working on the areas that we’ve identified. That might take a while, but there’s still some time before the first race. We have to keep improving, so we’re not getting too excited, but I’m pleased with how things have gone so far.”

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 10th, 2:01.729 (19 laps)
“Obviously, I’d like to have done more. I can’t really say it was a real test for me, but I did a few laps each morning in order to at least get a feel for the new bike, get a little data and understand a couple of things. Even in that limited time, I was able to make small improvements and go quicker each day. Ducati did an amazing job with this bike in a short amount of time. It’s smoother than any other Ducati I’ve ever ridden, it looks slick and it’s good to work on. It’s got good power, and the front end is working well, but with the extra power, now we’ve got to find better rear traction at the first touch of the throttle. With the few adjustments we’ve made, everything seems to be going in a good way, so now I just need to get healthy.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Rossi works hard on the GP12 at Sepang"

Hayden stopped by painful shoulder

For the Ducati Team, the second day of testing at Sepang was marked by a busy schedule that focused on preparing the GP12’s base setup. Valentino Rossi was engaged in the work that Filippo Preziosi had planned for the team, using all the time at his disposition, while Nicky Hayden was forced to stop after sixteen laps due to pain in his injured left shoulder. Test rider Franco Battaini took over the American’s seat in order to complete the work planned for today.

Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) 7th, 2:01.886 (44 laps)
“It was another positive day, both because we achieved our goal of lapping at 2:01 and because we managed to make further progress with the bike’s setup. On the other hand, as is normal with a brand-new bike like the GP12, as we progress with our tests we also find other details that can’t be addressed with setup alone and that will therefore have to be perfected in the coming weeks. We had already identified those areas yesterday, acceleration and electronics, and we confirmed the progress made with the front end. Honda and Yamaha have been working on their bikes for a year, while we’ve just had two days, which makes our job particularly challenging, but we already knew that as well. Tomorrow will be important as well because we’ll be able to make an overall assessment of the three days, and we’ll have a clearer idea of where we stand compared to the others. If we manage to stay under one second from the top, I’ll be happy.”

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) 10th, 2:02.354 (16 laps)
“I was okay when I first went out this morning, and on my second lap I managed to make a pretty decent step from yesterday. After that I lost strength in the shoulder and wasn’t really able to ride fast or consistently enough to test much. I’m okay under braking because I can lock my shoulder out, but when the bike shakes I don’t have enough strength to hold on. I didn’t want to crash and cause bigger problems, so I just decided to chill out. It’s a bit of a bummer, but that’s how it goes sometimes. They’ve done a great job with the new bike, and you can see just from looking at it that it’s really slick. I just wish I could ride it closer to the edge and really see what it does and how it reacts to changes. Maybe I’ll do a few more exits tomorrow, but that’s about it.”

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Alonso and Massa press conference"

Alonso is waiting for the right car to challenge the world title
Massa: “I’m well motivated to make a great season”

While in Madonna di Campiglio Valentino Rossi enjoys himself with the snowboard on the well snowy slopes and Nicky Hayden spends his free time on the snow, the Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa reveal the secrets and goals of the next season. Everybody knows that Ferrari pointed at Alonso.
Massa wants to do his best in the first part of the season to assure himself the renewed contract with Ferrari

Fernando Alonso, gloomy and sad during the whole press conference because of some news about his private life appeared in the journals, is waiting for the new car (presented on the next 3rd February) to lead Ferrari on the highest step of the podium, but he rejects forced victories.
“To win can’t be an obligation. The sport is sacrifice, determination, team spirit, passion. But all these things can’t be enough and results depend on other elements as well.
As in the other sports there are hopes and defeats, happiness and negative moments”. Then, a wish is addressed to Robert Kubiza, the Polish of Lotus Renault. “For me he is the best – said Alonso – when he’ll come back he will be stronger than before, both mentally and physically”.
The Brazilian is very motivated and said: “If they give me a competitive car I can challenge Alonso too. Anyway I’m confident – he said – with the new car, I’ll have more possibilities to win”.
Massa knows that the first races in 2012 will be decisive for the Ferrari choice of renewing or not his contract, but he is not afraid about it and when the journalists asked him who will be the favourite driver for the title, he answers: “That’s me. Now I want to concentrate on the championship and to win again. Then I’ll think about the future of my career”.
Tomorrow, the last day of “Wrooom”, don’t miss the “Challenge Exhibition”, the race on the iced lake with the Ducati riders and Ferrari drivers at 4.45 pm.
This year Nicky Hayden will not race because he’s recovering from an accident.

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Domenicali and Preziosi"

Domenicali: “In 2011 Alonso did his best.
2012 will be the year of the truth for Massa”.
Preziosi: the new Ducati is a secret up to Sepang

In Madonna di Campiglio the Wrooom week goes on. Stefano Domenicali, Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari, and Filippo Preziosi, General Director of Ducati Corse, spoke about the arrangements for the next motors season. Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the Ferrari President, and Carmelo Ezpeleta, the Managing Director of Dorna (the Spanish company that manages the Moto Gp) reach Campiglio too.

Domenicali explained the changes in the business management with the arrival of the technical director Mr. Pat Fry and of Mr. Hirohide Hamashima. In 2012 there will be a revolution in Ducati con two new motorbikes for Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden. Preziosi skated over the technical questions of the journalists.

“In the new management – Domenicale said – the traditional values and the passion combines with the new enthusiasm.” 2012 – the Team Principal continued – will be a crucial year for the future of Felipe (Massa) in Ferrari.
Alonso raced at the highest levels, now it is up to our engineers to give him a car that allows him to be first.
Where is the motorbike? This is the first question addressed to Filippo Preziosi, who in the last year presented the Desmosedici in Madonna di Campiglio. The general director of Ducati Corse congratulated on the hospitality of Madonna di Campiglio, defining the resort “a wonderful place”, but he did’nt reveal the technical news of the new motorbikes for Rossi and Hayden.
“They are assembling the motorbikes in these days in Bologna and you could see them in Sepang” – he answered – “in a few months we are making a work that is usually made in two years”
In 2011 we collected data, information and knowledges thanks to the drivers’ judgements; as regards 2012, we have many expectations. The challenge we are going to face is strong and daring, but not impossible. Ducati already showed to be able to win impossible challenges.

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Wroom 2012 Meeting with Ducati"

In Madonna di Campiglio the parterre of Canalone Miramonti changes itself into the home of Ducati fans

The cheerfulness of Valentino Rossi and the reliability of Nicky Hayden were the real protagonists of “Meeting with Ducati” , which took place yesterday afternoon at Canalone Miramonti in Madonna di Campiglio.
Several Ducati fans, the rock music which warms up the public and the mythical setting of the Slalom Stadium welcomed the two drivers, who declared to be very happy about the love shown by their fans.
Nicky e Valentino were beside themselves with joy to meet their fans, who were waiting for them to make some technical questions about the next season.
After having warmly say hallo to all the present people, the riders answered to the questions of the public: the first one was for Valentino about his expectations for the MotoGp “Do you will win this year?”
“I hope so – answered Rossi - even if we can still test the motorbikes and all the news of this year”
As in an evening among old friends, the fans made the most varied questions to Valentino and Nicky.
An applause for Marco Simoncelli moved everybody, and then Rossi and Hayden said goodbye, declaring again to be happy and proud of having a public so devoted to the Italian red two-wheels.

WROOOM Madonna di Campiglio Ferrari & Ducati Press Ski Meeting "Wrooom: Valentino Rossi day"

Besides the press conferences, the rich programme of the 22nd edition of the Wrooom event continues on the snow of Madonna di Campiglio: ski races, excursions, parties and entertainement for the guests and the public

During the second day of “Wrooom – International F1 & MotoGp Press Ski Meeting”, in programme in Madonna di Campiglio till Friday 13th January, Valentino Rossi faces the journalists, stating his wish to win again and his desire that the agreement with Ducati (which expires this year) can go on. “When I’m in fine form and drive well, I’m still very fast and competitive. But I can’t deny that I belong to a former generation compared to the younger and strong drivers”
A completely new motorbike is going to be made: tomorrow Filippo Preziosi, Ducati Corse General Director, will reveal its secrets.

A simple “Hi to everybody” and a smile are enough for Valentino Rossi to win the public: compared to the last year where the champion made his debut in red Ducati in Madonna di Campiglio with his fractured shoulder, now all has changed.
Valentino feels good. “My physical conditions – he tells – were worse and I was in a bad mood. Today all is different, I’m fine and I’ll ready for my first text in a few weeks.

In 2011 – he goes on – the results were under all expectations, but working with Ducati was good.”
The contract with the stable of Borgo Panigale expires at the end of the next MotoGP and Valentino would like to renewed it, excluding any return to the Japanese motorbikes.

“Filippo (Preziosi) – Rossi explains – designed a completely new motorbike, trying to work out the problems of the last season and to shorten the times on Honda and Yamaha.
I saw it on the computer, it is very nice and I look forward to try it. A simple test will be made to know if we can be competitive. It’s necessary to be realist, but I hope that this motorbike will make the miracle.

The young who debut in the MotoGp consider you a myth, an example to follow and they look forward to compete with you. What do you think? “I’ll be ready for them” answered Rossi.
Do you want to win the MotoGp? “I can’t, bu I try to come close to it. There is a minute and a half to make up for, but I’m not worried about it, rather confident. A few riders with the new motorbikes will be enough to understand if we worked good and where are we going to.

A minute and a half of gap between Honda and Yamaha to be filled in order to be competitive, answer Hayden “I’m confident – explains the American – in the new Ducati project, we are going to reach the time of the other motorbikes. In Qatar we’ll verify the progress of the motorbike with the 1.000 motor: it is very different in motor and electronics from the past 1.000, it is nearer to the 800 motor in riding style.
Wrooom goes on till Friday 13th January, where Ferrari drivers and Ducati riders will compete in an original and exciting cars race on the iced lake of Madonna di Campiglio. Who will be the faster?
